NEVERLAND [70 icons] [Nov. 1st, 2009|02:42 pm]

All icons are made from real images of Michael Jackson's Neverland estate (based off the classic tale of Peter Pan). I worked to preserve a sense of magic, sparkle, and mystery. Many of the artifacts & rides were modeled after or custom-made by the creations and creators of the original Disneyland.

New member with a question... [Sep. 18th, 2009|04:52 pm]

Hi guys! I recently got to see Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens (literally - the tent (I say tent, it was a LOT bigger than a tent) was in Kensington Gardens) which was AMAZING, which put Peter Pan back on my brain. Here's a link to a youtube videp about it:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i3vYL8vrQag

I've borrowed the original text from school (since the version I own is a simplified children's version) and was wondering:

Which 'version' (be it film, play etc.) is your favourite?

I must say I did LOVE the play, because it stayed incredibly close to the book (as I'm now finding out) but I also LOVE 'Hook' and the 2003 live action film. Oh, and the film 'Neverland'. But 'Hook' was the second 'version' I saw of the story, the Disney film being the first (which I played to death as a kid) so I'm a bit odd in having read the story after seeing various film versions.

Differences in Editions [Jan. 18th, 2007|12:25 pm]

I thought I was going insane, but I have cross-checked and it's true.
The newer edition of Peter Pan, the one with the blue cover (that seems to have been released for the sole purpose of promoting the sequal), is different from the edition I was given for my birthday as a little girl. (I don't have them both with me, so I can't give you the edition numbers, unfortunatly.)

It started out as an argument between a friend and myself over Captain Hook's name. My original version refers to him a James cook, but states that he writes his name as Jas. Hook. So whenever I'm talking about my take on the character, he is James, when I'm talking about his opinions of himself and his world view, I refer to him as Jas.
Well, it seems that the new book uses either name all throughout the novel. I am so used to reading it as James that my brain automatically translated it when I read the newer version. My friend has only ever read the New edition and thought that his name was Jas.

Did anyone else notice any other discrepancies?

Oh wow, why are all the Pan LJ communities so DEAD? Was there a wave of subscribers after the awful 2003 movie that have all just dried up or something? *sigh* There's no discussion. Like, I don't know, what are people's favourite quotes from the book, or something?

Not a fun post, but...

Where could I find a copy of the PLAY?

The original play, I know people have read it, where can I find it?

And, where does it say that Hook has yellow blood? I remember reading it on a site, but not in my edition, and I doubt mine would've been edited.

Tiger Lily icons at top of the page, well, right after the Princess Jasmine. Loads fairly quickly so you can just snag those and go without waiting for the Jazz Singer.

I usually hate it when you have to go to someone's journal to get an icon, but I'm lazy today.

Oh! And here's some food for thought, looking at another post, who are the pirates and the Indians in the "real world"? Were the pirates really that cruel? Is the tribe all one nation, or is it a combination? What is Neverland? Different peoples dreams occuring at once? Purgatory? What happens when you die in Neverland?

Wow... I think the last post was over a year ago.

My name is Emily, first read the book when I was 17, saw the musical with Cathy Rigby after I read the book, watched the Disney film, and I just wrote my senior paper on Tiger Lily and the changing role of the Indians, from the book, the Disney film, the Jerome Robbins' musical, and the 2003 film.

Here's a question for you:

Why is Tiger Lily the ignored/forgotten character?

Tiger Lily has very few fanfics written about her, but it can easily be argued that she is a stronger female character than Wendy. She's a warrior in the book and musical, heck, she boarded the Jolly Roger alone with a knife, ready to attack the crew.

excerpts from my essay... Barrie's bookCollapse )

So, for anybody else out there... what are your views on Tiger Lily?

howdy all,

sorry to burden such a well thought out and needed community with something as silly as "have you seen this picture..?" but it was either y'all or the million icon lists. but i'll offer up an explanation to keep things more....meta(?)

i'm looking for a very simple drawing of peter pan blowing out a star. i've spent hours on google image search and everytime i make it to a new town i always check all the books in the library to try and find it. it seems to be a very early drawing.

now the explanation, there's an old sea shanty with the lines, " i shall be guided without a star, into the arms that i love the best" and the combination of those words and that image would be a fine thing to see.

ah well, thanks regardless. hope y'all are well.
